I really didn't want to do another CD of covers for many of the same reasons that dissatisfied me about some of 'A Few Old Friends', mainly the quality of some of the backing tracks. But by the end of 2009 I was getting bogged down recording 'Season's End' which had lost direction and I decided that the best thing to do was put it to rest for a bit.

I had a couple of leftovers from 'Old Friends' which I'd recorded (roughly) at the end of 2008, so I re-recorded a couple of bits here and there to get them sounding acceptable and then set about sourcing backing tracks for the rest of what I had in mind. Despite not being overly enamoured of backings, I still didn't have enough confidence to take on the task of recording my own. I was still getting to grips with re-learning everything I had ever forgotten about drumming and keyboards and this was supposed to be fun first and foremost.

As it turned out, I was pleasantly surprised by most of what I recorded although there are a couple of things which I'll change when I get around to it, top of that list is the guitar on 'Rodrigo', it's played OK but the tone stinks (far too twangy!).

'Sylvia' was the last track I recorded in November '10 (and one which almost got left on the hard drive because the high hat is so far off the beat in the intro, no amount of jigging around with the timing or my playing seemed to fix it!), but by the end of recording I had started to tinker around with 'Season's End' again so mission accomplished I suppose.

I don't see me doing anymore covers anytime soon, although I have got a couple of bits still knocking around which I may look at again at some point..perhaps..
