In the beginning....

I have enough trouble writing one journal, two might be pushing my luck. But this one isn’t intended to be daily, just as and when I get something done musically.

The current ongoing project is ‘Straight On Til Morning’ which has seven tracks finished already and I’m working on number 8.

My Ovation 12 string is seeing a lot of duty this time and for some reason I’ve really gone to town with the Mellotron (probably simply because I like the way it sounds).

I’ve written some nice bass parts on this one as well so far so it’s all good at the moment, I’m also thinking less about the mechanics of the keyboard parts and just getting on with them so something has been sinking in these past few months.

To keep myself amused I’m also tinkering with the idea of starting a new CD of synth stuff which is always good fun.

TTFN.

This Morning....

Bass part for track number 8 written and recorded. It came pretty quickly and unusually for me, easily. I can play bass but don’t consider myself a bass player (sounds contradictory but muso’s will know what I mean), just need to review it in a bit and work out what needs tweaking,

Job’s a goodun’....

That’s the bass finished for track 8. Doubled the live bass so it’s a track with chorus and another slightly brighter with a little gain and some of the top end rolled off.

I’ve also added a basic synth bass single note shadow in a lower register to thicken the bottom end a bit when the bass guitar is in the higher register.

Seems to have worked out very nicely and tomorrow I’ll start in on the guitars (if I don’t this afternoon that is.
