2023 was a real rollercoaster for me mentally. Depression has been an on/off thing for me for the last few years and I think it all got a bit too much last year.
Despite 2 ex bosses writing me glowing references, I still steadfastly failed to get much of a sniff at a full time job. The best I could do last year was 3 months from January to March with a company who while great and (apparently) thinking I was too according to the agency didn't think I was great enough to fill the full time role (doing exactly the same bloody thing I did for 3 months) in another office.
That was about the last straw, well that and never hearing back from any of the applications I was sending and I kind of lost interest (IN EVERYTHING!)
Seriously lacking motivation I tried turning to music but, try as I might I couldn't stay focussed and nothing stuck.
Fast forward to the start of this year and feeling the positivity that a new year brings I listened through some of what I had managed to get down. This EP is a 'clearing the decks' exercise, I didn't want this stuff round my neck anymore and couldn't see myself finishing either project so here is 'Half & Half', half guitar and half synth and I actually don't hate it in fact, track 1 'Better....Sometime' is one of the prettiest little tunes I've written, albeit very melancholy thanks to the cotton wool in my head..
Onwards and upwards as they say although thanks to a mishap in December I may not be playing guitar for a while again yet so I'll crack out the synths and see what happens.
